What to Expect from a Mantra Chanting Session

What to Expect from a Mantra Chanting Session

What to Expect from a Mantra Chanting Session

Trying something new can feel unfamiliar, especially when it comes to a practice as personal as mantra chanting. One of the questions we are often asked is, "What actually happens during a session?"

This guide walks you through the journey—from discovering Brahmachakra1111 to experiencing your first mantra chanting session.

Beginning Your Journey

There are usually two ways people arrive here.

The first is through curiosity.

Perhaps you came across the website, explored the stories, read about the mantras, and found yourself connecting with the philosophy. You may not know much about mantra chanting yet, but something about it feels peaceful and worth experiencing.

The second is with intention.

You already believe in the power of mantra chanting, or perhaps it has been part of your life before. You are looking for dedicated time, guidance, and consistency to make it a meaningful practice.

Whichever path brings you here, you are warmly welcome.

Booking Your Session

When you're ready, you'll find Book a Session buttons throughout the website.

Rather than booking an instant online appointment, you'll be asked to complete a short form.

There is a simple reason for this.

Unlike many appointments, mantra chanting works best when the sessions are planned thoughtfully. We need to understand what you are looking for, check availability, consider time zones if needed, and create a schedule that works comfortably for both of us.

The form also gives you an opportunity to briefly share what has brought you here and what you hope to gain from the experience.

Once your form is submitted, we'll respond within 24 hours.

You will receive a WhatsApp message, and together we'll discuss the next steps, answer any questions, and finalise a suitable plan.

Choosing Your Plan

You may choose a single session simply to experience mantra chanting for yourself.

If you choose a guided programme of 3 days, 7 days, or longer, we generally recommend completing the sessions on consecutive days whenever possible.

This rhythm allows you to settle into the practice and experience the continuity of the mantra without long gaps between sessions.

Life doesn't always follow a perfect schedule, so together we'll create a plan that is practical and comfortable while keeping the sessions as consistent as possible.

Once the schedule has been agreed upon, you'll receive the payment details and your place will be confirmed.

Before We Begin

Each session usually lasts 10 to 20 minutes, although there is no strict time limit.

The focus is never on watching the clock but on allowing the chanting to unfold naturally.

Before each session, both of us simply choose a quiet, comfortable place where we are unlikely to be disturbed.

No special clothing, equipment, or prior experience is needed.

Just come as you are.

The Session

We begin by greeting one another and taking a quiet moment to set an intention for the day's chanting.

An intention is simply a gentle reminder of why we are gathering—to cultivate peace, clarity, strength, healing, courage, or whatever purpose has brought you to the practice.

The mantra chosen at the beginning of your programme remains the same throughout the duration of that plan.

For example, if you have chosen a three-day programme centred on Om Namah Shivaya, we will continue with the same mantra for all three days.

Depending on the mantra and the programme, it may be chanted:

  • 54 repetitions
  • 108 repetitions
  • or, for longer mantras and hymns, 7, 9, 11, or 21 repetitions.

Keeping the same mantra throughout the programme allows the mind to become familiar with its rhythm and meaning, creating a more settled and consistent practice.

What Do I Need to Do?

Very little.

You may simply close your eyes, relax, and listen to the chanting.

If it feels natural, you are welcome to silently repeat the mantra in your mind along with me.

There is no pressure to chant aloud or to "do it correctly."

There is no performance to give and nothing to achieve.

Simply allow yourself to be present with the sound.

A Gentle Space to Pause

Modern life rarely gives us permission to stop.

For a few minutes each day, this becomes a quiet space where you can set everything else aside.

No expectations.

No judgments.

Just sound, breath, and stillness.

Whether this is your first experience with mantra chanting or a practice you are returning to after many years, each session is simply an invitation—to pause, to listen, and to reconnect with yourself, one chant at a time.
